This print is part of my Decriminalizing the Fabric collection, responding to the discriminative stereotype of headwear. This print illustrates the beauty of the durag, focusing on the folds, light, and shadows. The halo above can be interpreted as a sign of protection referring to the purpose of the durag- protecting hairstyles.

 

I intend for the viewer to be aware of their biases and view the material from a different perspective. Maybe even ask why they may consider this piece of fabric as a threat.
